Information we collect
The Service is powered by Ghost ("Ghost"), which uses a cookie for member authentication to maintain a logged-in session. This cookie falls under "strictly necessary" privacy exemptions and does not require any special handling. Model Railway Line is hosted on servers located in London, United Kingdom. You can read Ghost's GDPR Data Processing Agreement.
The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information.
If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.
When you register for an Account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.
Additionally, the following information may also be collected automatically by Ghost:
- Your IP address
- Your unique Stripe ID (if you subscribe to one of our paid plans)
- Your generalized geolocation information (which may include: city, region, country, latitude, longitude, timezone)
How we use your information
We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Improve, personalize, and expand the Service
- Understand and analyze how you use the Service
- Manage your subscription to the Service
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
- Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the website, and for marketing and promotional purposes
- Send you emails
- Find and prevent fraud

The personal information that we collect when you use the Service is confidential. We may disclose your personal information to a third-party in the following circumstances:

Where we store your personal data
The transmission of data via the internet is not completely secure. We do our best to keep the information you disclose to us secure. However, we cannot guarantee its security. By using the Service you accept the inherent risks of providing information via the internet and will not hold us responsible for any security breach.
How long do we keep your personal information?
We will only hold your personal information for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Agreement (unless a longer period is required or permitted by law), or until you request that it is deleted.
Generally, you can expect us to keep your personal information while you regularly interact with the Service, subscribe to the Service, log in to the Service, or open the Model Railway Line newsletters. If you do not interact with the Service, log in to the Service, or open the Model Railway Line newsletters for a reasonable length of time, we will automatically unsubscribe and remove your personal data from our systems.
You can choose to unsubscribe from the Model Railway Line newsletters at any time. An unsubscribe link is provided at the bottom of every newsletter we send out. Simply click this and you will be unsubscribed from the mailing list.
If you have contacted us using the contact form on Model Railway Line, or by email, we will keep the information you send to us (including any subsequent correspondence between you and us) for a period of up to one year from the last piece of correspondence. This enables us to more easily act on any subsequent requests for support or assistance from you.
Model Railway Line follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

Like any other website, Model Railway Line uses 'cookies'. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors' browser type and/or other information.

CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)
Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:

If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us. Such requests will usually be dealt with within one month, however this may be longer if your request is complicated or you have made a large number of requests. In such cases we will let you know that we need more than one month to respond to your request. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.
Model Railway Line does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
